Franklin’s physical education program strives to actively
engage children in vigorous physical activity to improve
and/or maintain their physical health and well-being. We
also encourage children to apply the skills and knowledge
they acquire during class to seek opportunities to be active
outside of school as part of a healthy lifestyle.
Two types of class activities are aligned with standards:
Health-related fitness, which includes the development of
muscular strength, endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility,
locomotor, and nonlocomotor skills. Skill-related fitness
includes the development of manipulatives and sports-related
skills.
Our students participate in the Presidents Fitness Test in
the Fall and Spring.
Grades K–8 have P.E .for 40 minutes per week; grades
4–8 receive an extra 40 minutes every other week.
Students are expected to wear a red Franklin t-shirt and
sweats/shorts.
